What is Pass Plus?
Passing your driving test is a huge achievement, but it is also the beginning of gaining experience as an independent driver.
Pass Plus is a practical driver training course designed to help qualified drivers improve their skills, become safer on the road and build confidence in a wider variety of driving situations.
The course is particularly useful for new drivers during the first year after passing their practical driving test, although it can be taken at any time.

The Six Pass Plus Modules
Pass Plus covers six different areas of driving, helping you gain valuable experience across a broader range of road and weather conditions.
Driving in Town
Develop your observation, awareness and planning when dealing with busy urban roads, junctions, pedestrians and other traffic.
Driving in All Weathers
Learn how different weather conditions can affect visibility, stopping distances, grip and the way you should drive.
Driving on Rural Roads
Build confidence on country roads where bends, changing speed limits, limited visibility and unexpected hazards can require careful planning.
Driving at Night
Improve your understanding of night driving, including reduced visibility, headlights and spotting potential hazards earlier.
Driving on Dual Carriageways
Practise joining, leaving, changing lanes and maintaining appropriate speeds on faster roads.
Driving on Motorways
Gain practical motorway experience including joining and leaving, lane discipline, overtaking and planning ahead at higher speeds.
No Additional Driving Test
How is Pass Plus Assessed?
There is no separate Pass Plus driving test. Instead, your driving is assessed throughout the course.
You will work through each of the six modules with your instructor and need to demonstrate the required standard in every area.
Once you have successfully completed the course, your instructor will complete a training report which can be used to apply for your official Pass Plus certificate.
Your Pass Plus Course
At Least 6 Hours
Pass Plus involves a minimum of six hours' training covering all six modules.
Wherever possible, the modules are completed through practical driving sessions so you gain genuine experience on the road.
