What is an Intensive Driving Course?
An intensive driving course allows you to complete more driving tuition over a shorter period of time than traditional weekly lessons.
Instead of spreading your learning over many weeks or months, you can concentrate your lessons into a structured programme designed around your current ability and the areas you need to improve.
Intensive courses can be suitable for complete beginners, learners with some previous experience, people returning to driving after a break, or drivers who have recently taken a practical test and want to focus on specific areas.

Choose a Course to Suit Your Experience
Debs Driving School offers several intensive course options depending on your current level of driving experience.
15 Hour Intensive Course
£899
Ideal as a refresher course for someone who already has driving experience, has not driven for a while, or has recently taken a practical test and wants to concentrate on particular areas.
20 Hour Intensive Course
£1,199
Designed for learners who already have some previous driving experience and want a focused programme to build their skills and confidence.
This course can normally be arranged over five days, with approximately four hours of tuition per day and suitable breaks.
25 Hour Intensive Course
£1,450
Suitable for drivers with limited or basic experience who would benefit from additional time to develop their skills.
The course can be spread over several days to allow time between sessions to absorb what you have learned and maintain concentration.
30 Hour Intensive Course
£1,725
Our most comprehensive intensive course, designed for learners with little or no previous driving experience.
The aim is to work through the full learning syllabus and develop the skills required to reach a suitable driving-test standard, subject to your individual progress.
Is an Intensive Course Right for You?
Intensive Doesn't Mean Rushed
An intensive course allows you to practise more frequently, but learning to drive still requires concentration, confidence and time to absorb new skills.
Some learners thrive with regular concentrated tuition, while others progress better with more time between lessons.
Choosing the right number of hours is therefore important. Your previous experience, confidence and ability all need to be taken into account.

The exact content depends on your experience, but your course can cover the full range of skills required for safe independent driving.
Vehicle Control
Moving off, stopping, steering, gears, clutch control and smooth use of the controls.
Junctions and Roundabouts

Progress is Individual
An intensive course can help you make rapid progress, but completing a set number of hours does not automatically mean that you will be ready to take your practical driving test.
Everyone learns at a different rate. Your instructor will assess your progress throughout the course and help you identify any areas that need further work.
Additional tuition may be recommended if more practice is needed before you are ready to drive safely and independently.

Your instructor can discuss additional tuition with you if it becomes clear that more preparation would be beneficial.
Practical Test Day
Test Day Costs
Where arranged with Debs Driving School, the current practical test-day costs are:
- Weekday practical test — £120
- Weekend practical test — £140
These prices include one hour of tuition before the test, use of the car for the practical test and the journey home afterwards.

Your Test Should Match Your Progress
If additional lessons are needed before your test, this should be discussed with your instructor.
The priority is making sure you have the skills and confidence to drive safely and independently, rather than simply reaching the end of a fixed number of hours.
Booking Your Course
Intensive Course Payments
When booking an intensive course, half of the course fee is currently required upfront.
The remaining balance is due four weeks before the course begins.
Because intensive courses reserve a significant amount of instructor time, cancellation conditions also apply.
